Salt River, Jamaica

Salt River, Jamaica

I’m almost reluctant to tell you about this place….almost.

Part of me wants to keep it as my own little hideaway, but it is too beautiful not to share!

I went to Jamaica over the holiday weekend with family. We stayed 10 minutes away from Hellshire Beach, which is my favorite. Sadly, there was so much algae in the sand and water people weren’t allowed to use the beach at all. No biggie, there are tons of beaches on the island.

With only two days of free time, we did a lot of searching. We stayed in Ocho Rios on day one, but day two? That was for Salt River.

Just take a look…

A smaller mineral pool half an hour from May Pen, with crystal clear water, a swinging rope, mangrove trees and lots of fish frying nearby.

Have a Red Stripe or three and get your fish from the guy who serves it with peppers and onions (trust me, it makes a difference). Best served with a pile of festival and a gorgeous view.

I highly recommend working it all off with a swing, or a swim, or both!

Or just wade and let your worries float away, if only for a little while.
