The Best Date

The Best Date

There's nothing like a good date to lift spirits. It's an excuse to get dressed up and enjoy the company of someone you enjoy. No responsibilities, homework, work obligations, meetings, none of that; just quality time set aside to relax and have fun. But who says there has to be another person in the equation?

I love the butterflies of a first date as much as the next person, but sometimes the best dates are solo dates. I love them because I can truly unplug and do things that make me. I can wear heels or not, order the burger or ribs at lunch even if it may get messy, see the chick flick without fear that my date will think it's cheesy or corny, and check out the art exhibits that my date may find boring (hello natural history museums!). No guilt about taking a long time to shop, no judgement at the amount of junk food I eat during the movie. No stress, no nerves, and no second-guessing.

So to celebrate acing one of my exams, I did that yesterday. Had a huge burger at The Burger Joint (a consistently good place), splurged on some new clothes, sat for a few hours in the sun, and came home to Netflix in bed.

Bliss.
